All About Waxing - No We’re Not Talking About Cars! Think Hair Removal
If we want to start talking about waxing, we can talk about its history and origin. It may actually shock you to find out that the original concept of waxing and hair removal is actually traced all the way back to ancient Egypt . Even back then before plastic surgery, botox and creams were available, the beauties and royalties of that era we're looking into staying young and beautiful.
Waxing as a hair removal technique is quite simple. Warm wax is spread on your body where you want the hair removed. The hair is then ripped out all the way from root to tip. While not a permanent solution to your hair ‘problems', waxing actually lasts quite a while so it might even be a few weeks before you require another treatment.
Most waxes used these days are comprised of some proportional mixture of paraffin or beeswax, natural oils or fats, and a specially designed resin to help the wax adhere to the skin. Some brands of wax include Vitamin E or other supplements. There are also two ways to go about waxing, that's using the hot waxing technique, or the cold waxing technique.
The hot waxing technique involves heating the wax to a comfortable temperature. A thin layer of wax is spread onto the area to be treated in the direction of the hair growth. Once the wax is cooled it is quickly torn off, in the opposite direction of the hair growth, and the hair is removed with it (as describe above). With the cold wax process, strips of cloth are pre-coated with wax. You apply the strips to the area to be treated, rub the strips in the direction of hair growth, and then pull the strips off quickly in the opposite direction. Although hot waxing techniques are a little messy compared to cold waxing, many people find that the hot wax gives better results. Cold waxing is a lot more convenient though.
If you decide to try the hot waxing technique at home please remember to check that the wax is below scalding or burning temperature before applying it on your skin. Another important thing to note is that you should never wax over sunburned skin or peeling skin, lesions or infections, moles, warts, skin abrasions, rashes, or varicose veins.
Finally, one of the most important things you need to know about waxing is that it is one of the most painful hair removal methods around. If you think you're tough enough to take it, then by all means try waxing. After all, it's a temporary hair removal method that isn't just effective but inexpensive as well.
